The past weekend was kind of surreal...

* * *

Early Saturday morning, went down to TP HQ at Ubi for the first time and waited over a donkey hour (watching football - I hate it - on the public tele and regretting not bring my Marie Antoinette) for someone to discuss an article which was over in like 15 mins. Damn. Hope that settles itself out by tomorrow morning...

Then went and bought ultradelish kaya rolls for the night's dinner and haircut get-together.

Then headed back to work for THAT stupid report till evening and some flip time at the Classifieds.

Then took a bus at Capitol all the way to Gene and Wee's. That was like 8ish.

Only to remember on the way I forgot to bring the fucking delish roll.

Then arrived and found Wee was still at work. Some stupid presentation today that kept getting canned by the developer. Sigh - the poor thing.

So, no mummy for En the whole night and Gene's like all preoccupied. Thank goodness no tantrums that night. (Or is an illness coming up...?)

Then lots of pizzas and salad to go through while waiting for Sam to arrive to do our hair. The guy's looking better by the day - liked the ash colour and Ryan Gosling look.

Then he popped the bomb - 'I'm moving back home. For good. Flying off in June. Starting up my own place.'

'Shit' was the same sentiment all around. All good hairstylists never seem to stay long enough. He did a great job on mine, as always. Just adore Dor's violet shade. Now what am I gonna do hunting for another one. Sigh... Now I know how stars and models feel about their stylists and make-uppists.

Then Wee came back home at 11ish - all shag but still her positive benign and unbeatable self as always. Burned a bomb on the hair tonic Sam recommended (so scientifically cool, very Botoxy kind of feeling) so hope it's worth it. Wee did hers too despite the fatigue - on hearing he's leaving for good.

Then more food and talk and Sam left and we chatted a bit more about work and it's fucking 3am and Wee's already turned in and poor Gene who has been teasy the whole night was pleading for sleep time cos poor Wee had to go back to work on Sunday and he hasn't slept since 6am.

So Merv drove us back and the drizzle started and I ventured it's too late to go home and too early to breakfast so he dropped me off at Cine at 3.50am and I caught Pan's Labyrinth.

A really stress releasing 2 hour fantastic movie. Highly recommended. Hope it wins the Oscar. How it lost to Almadovar's Volver at the Goyas is a scandal.

Then at 6ish in the morning, had a really nice though really chilly slow stroll down Orchard in the breaking gloom. Such a sight as I've never seen - windy and wet after the night's drizzle but no hussle, no angry bodies to step aside and weaved away from, just some night owls here and there and an argument thrown in by some mat-rockers by the road.

Quite a calming walk to think about some things...

Then had one of those Libran lightning fancies and walked back and hopped down to Harbourfront and had a drink at Seah Imm.

Then took a bus back still thinking about Pan's Labyrinth and reached home at 8ish and watched Girlie Show on DVD. Had superlight breakfast.

Then did some window cleaning while finishing up The Black Dahlia (crap show). Finished that and had light lunch with Mom while finishing up The White Countess (what a drag).

Then headed down to the supermart with Mom. Without sleeping a wink.

Bought some groceries and cheap gourmet chocolates and headed home at 5.

And then slept like log. Had lunch at 11.40pm and a late late shower (Alan's gonna kill me for that) and tonic time (no gin).

Then watched The Shawshank Redemption till 4am.

Liked the ending shot of the beach at Mexico. Want to go there or some place like that too - been thinking about it for a loooong time but not know what it's called and when to start...

Practically crammed 1 month's worth of delayed rest and relax in 1 day and 1 night.

I need another break from my break...

aftermath - the second day of the new year

Sandpaper throat. Throbbing head. Viral sneezes.

Shopping bag load of work folders not read. Ad copy on scholarship write up not edited. Schizophrenic PC oning and offing with faulty visual card at will.

Sooooooo not good signs to start a new year with...

* * * * *

Came home at 4am. At Gene and Wee's pad from 3pm till 3am-ish eating ENDLESSLY and chatting with Dor and Merw and watching Babel and Priscilla with crying teething En for company - poor dear vomited twice.

But from gloriously wonderful food and company.

Merw's chicken rice (delivered in his cool blue Mini Coop).

Gene's Tiger Beer fish and chips with vinegar and tartare sauce.

Wee's baked veggies, simple yet appetising - such refreshingly sweet onions, zucchini and carrots. Oven cooked chicken wings in special batter.

Devil's Food Cake (or soooomething like that lah) from Cedele is soooooooo sinfully delish and Pavlova is sooooooooo heavenly like angels melting in the mouth. Dor's delicate scones.

Flushed with gushes of Orangina with copious cutesy lime-lemon-blueberry ice cubes.

Were alternating dishes, even at midnight. In between DVDs, napping, diaper changing and more eating at 1am, even caught last portion of stupidly censored American Beauty on TV5.

Talk about gorging ourselves swine silly in the Year of the Pig.

And tips on where to tour and when to go and what to do and other inane stuff that came to mind. And little revelations and giveaways (oops, aah so, now I see...).

Dead beat drunk like feel now like totally wasted and heady and tripping. In a good way. And not from even a drop of alcohol.

* * * * *

Gene's happy we could all make it there with them.

It's a tad stretching it a bit, but these get togethers are a joy and I like being there.

Can't imagine what's up for Lunar New Year.

Can almost expect the SMS come early February already.
